I am a Blackboard Exemplary Course Design Award recipient and an instructional design manager at Harold Washington College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago. I am also an adjunct faculty teaching computer information systems courses with the Online Learning department, the distance education course provider for all seven City Colleges of Chicago.
I have more than 12 years of curriculum development experience and a multidisciplinary background in education, foreign languages, management information systems, and emerging technologies. Previously, I served as the dean of Dawson Technical Institute (DTI) of Kennedy King College. During my tenure at DTI, I led several projects such as the initiative to increase student retention and success rates, designed the first Gas Utility Advanced Certificate program in the state of Illinois in partnership with Peoples Gas and Utility Workers of America. This program is a model in the state of Illinois and has over 90% success rate and job placement. Before pursuing my passion for higher education, I have worked as a business instructor and an office manager at Cape Coast Polytechnics (Ghana) and Sasakawa Global 2000, an international agricultural extension organization respectively.
I hold a Master of Science degree in Instructional Design and Technology from Northern Illinois University, a graduate certificate in Online Program Administration and also an Online Teaching both from the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign. I am currently pursuing my doctoral study in instructional technology at Northern Illinois University. I am fluent in French and English.
